Who we are
The Roatán Insider Concierge ("The Roatán Insider", "we") is a local concierge service on Roatán, Bay Islands, Honduras, run by Chris Allen. We help guests plan and book their days on the island with local operators. You can reach us at info@roataninsiderconcerge.com or on WhatsApp +504 9595-6493.
What we collect
- What you send us. Your name, email or WhatsApp number, travel dates, the size of your group (including how many children), where you are staying or your cruise ship, the experiences you are interested in and any notes, through this website's forms and "My plan", WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, email or in person.
- Booking details. Your quotes, itinerary, invoices and payments. Card payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- The newsletter. Your email address, if you sign up for The Roatán Insider Guide.
- On this website. The plan you build is saved only in your own browser so it is there when you come back; we receive it only when you send it. "Made in Roatán" votes are anonymous. This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Our web host keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security.
How we use it
- To answer you and plan your trip.
- To book the local operators who run your experiences. We share only what they need: your name, the size of your group, the date, the pickup place and any special requirements you tell us about.
- To send you quotes, itineraries, calendar invitations, invoices and receipts.
- To send the newsletter you asked for.
- To keep the business and tax records the law requires.
- To understand which of our ads work (see below).
Advertising measurement
Many guests find us through Facebook and Instagram ads. When you contact us or book, we may tell Meta that an enquiry or a booking happened, together with a one-way encrypted (hashed) version of your email address, phone number and name, so Meta can match it to the ad you saw. Meta receives the scrambled values, not the plain text. We never sell your information.
Who helps us
We use these services to run the business. Each processes your details only to provide its service to us, under its own privacy terms, and some are based outside Honduras (mainly in the United States):
- Google: website forms, email, calendar, file storage, and transcribing voice notes you send us.
- Meta: WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram conversations, and ad measurement.
- Stripe: card payments and invoices.
- Cloudflare: secure storage, backups and access to our booking system.
- Anthropic: an AI assistant that helps us draft replies and itineraries. A person reviews everything before it is sent to you.
- Hostinger and GitHub: hosting this website.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. Beyond the operators running your trip and the services above, we share it only if the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
For as long as we need it to plan and deliver your trip and answer your follow-up questions, and for as long as the law requires us to keep payment and tax records. You can ask us to delete it sooner.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by replying "unsubscribe". Write to info@roataninsiderconcerge.com or message us on WhatsApp +504 9595-6493.
How to have your data deleted
Email info@roataninsiderconcerge.com or message us on WhatsApp +504 9595-6493 with "Delete my data", your name, and the email address or phone number you used with us. We will delete your details from our records, conversations and mailing list within 30 days and confirm when it is done. We keep only what the law requires for payments already made. To remove a conversation from Facebook Messenger, Instagram or WhatsApp themselves, you can also delete it in that app.
Children
Our services are for adults planning a trip. We do not knowingly collect information from children; the number and ages of children in a group come from the adult who books.
Keeping it safe
Our booking system sits behind secure sign-in, its data is encrypted in transit, and backups are kept in secure storage. No system is perfect, so we collect only what we need to plan your trip.
Changes
If we change how we handle your details, we will update this page and the date at the top.
